Throughout 1984 Winston knows Big Brother is watching so he tries not to have any thoughts. While there are children disguised as spies there are machines such as telescreens that watch every movement you do in the household. The telescreen will also automatically alert the thought police if any suspicious activity occurs. In my opinion, I think this will do good and bad. I think it will do good because if someone tries to rob your house it will alert the police and then protect your home. I think it will do bad because it invades your privacy especially because it is on most of the time. When Winston writes in his journal and lets his mind out but is careful and dangerous because the thought police will know and he would get in trouble.
